1.8.1955, S1 flott,
Lillian Briggs (née Biggs; June 3, 1932 April 11, 1998) was an American rock 'n roll performer and musician.
Briggs was the first woman to achieve star status at the dawn of rock 'n roll in the early 1950s; soon after embarking upon her career, as she toured Australia with Nat King Cole in early 1956, she began being billed as "The Queen of Rock and Roll" during the same period that media began referring to Elvis Presley as the "King" of the new musical genre.
"I Want You to Be My Baby" is a jump blues song written by Jon Hendricks for Louis Jordan whose recording, made on May 28, 1953, was released that autumn.
In the summer of 1955, "I Want You to Be My Baby" was remade as the debut disc by Lillian Briggs, resulting in an expedient cover version by veteran vocalist Georgia Gibbs. Producers Hugo & Luigi had Gibbs fly in from her Massachusetts home to New York City in August 1955 to cut "I Want You to Be My Baby" that same afternoon. New York City disc jockeys were provided with acetates of the Gibbs' version by the following morning with regular jockey copies being shipped out Friday 5 August 1955. Neither version of the song would reach the Top Ten. Gibbs' version had the higher chart peak at #14 but it was the rough voiced Briggs, whose version peaked at #18 and sold over a million discs! Terry Dene (born Terence Williams, 20 December 1938) is a British rock music singer popular in the late 1950s and early 60s. He had three Top Twenty hits between June 1957 and May 1958.
In 1957, his first single, "A White Sport Coat", sold in excess of 350,000 copies in the first seven weeks and together with his own version of "Start Movin'" at number 14, put his records in the Top 20 of the UK Singles Chart twice in the same year, securing his name in the Guinness Book of Records. His recording of "Stairway of Love" in 1958 remained in the chart for eight weeks. He toured Britain, was one of the first to appear in the BBC Television's first pop show, Six-Five Special in April 1957. |

Bis 1943 erschienen unter anderem We Three (My Echo, My Shadow and Me), When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano, Whispering Grass, Do I Worry, Java Jive und Shout, Brother, Shout. Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall.
1946 erschien neben To Each His Own der größte Hit der Gruppe mit dem Titel The Gypsy.
Qualle: Wikipedia |

London, 1956, schräge Angelegenheit . . . einzige.
Each side is in a completely different style, with Terry Thomas providing various voices. The a-side is quite catchy, in a rock n’roll style Platte der britischen Künstlers.
Terry-Thomas (eigentlich Thomas Terry Hoar-Stevens; * 14. Juli 1911 in London; † 8.
Quelle: Wikipedia |
