„Nel blu, dipinto di blu“ (italienisch; „In Blau gemaltes Blau“), nach seinem Refrain auch unter dem Titel „Volare“ (italienisch für „fliegen“) bekannt, ist ein von dem italienischen Sänger, Komponisten und Schauspieler Domenico Modugno (Musik und Text) und Franco Migliacci (Text) geschriebenes Lied. Es wurde zum ersten Mal auf dem Sanremo-Festival 1958 von Modugno und Johnny Dorelli präsentiert und ging als Siegertitel des Wettstreits hervor. Im März desselben Jahres nahm Modugno mit dem Lied am Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson teil, wo es den dritten Platz belegte.
Nachdem das Lied in den Vereinigten Staaten veröffentlicht worden war, entwickelte es sich zum Nummer-eins-Hit der Billboard Hot 100. 1959 erhielt Domenico Modugno für das Lied die erstmals verliehenen Grammy Awards in den Kategorien Record of the Year und Song of the Year. Jackie Gleason (* 26. Februar 1916 in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City, New York; † 24. Juni 1987 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) US-amerikanischer Komiker, Schauspieler, Komponist und Big-Band-Leader.
In seiner Karriere war er Master of Ceremonies in Amateurshows, ein Stuntfahrer, DJ und später dann ein Comedian in Nachtclubs. Außerdem hat er in über 40 Filmen mitgewirkt. Zu seinen populärsten Filmen zählt Ein ausgekochtes Schlitzohr mit Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed und Sally Field. Später wurden dann noch zwei Fortsetzungen gedreht. Wirklich bekannt wurde er aber als „Minnesota Fats“ neben Paul Newman in Haie der Großstadt. Gleason erhielt seine einzige Oscar-Nominierung als bester Nebendarsteller für seine Darstellung.
Gleason war bekannt für seine Abneigung gegenüber Proben. Selbst bei Liveshows wollte er alles immer nur einmal machen und improvisieren.
Mitte der 1950er Jahre schrieb er zahlreiche Musikstücke, die sehr populär zu der Zeit waren. Er nahm sie mit seinem Orchester für Capitol Records auf, mit George Dale Williams als Arrangeur. Sie standen anfangs in Zusammenhang mit der TV-Serie Music for the Love Hours. Beteiligt waren auch Jazzmusiker (Gleason war ein Jazzfan) wie Bobby Hackett, Toots Mondello, Pee Wee Erwin, Lawrence Brown, Hank Jones, Charlie Ventura und Jimmy Cleveland. Er veröffentlichte bis Ende der 1960er Jahre regelmäßig Alben.
Er ist besonders bekannt für die Fernsehserie The Honeymooners Mitte der 1950er Jahre, die er auch danach in Sketchen aufleben ließ. Insgesamt hatte er von 1952 bis 1970 populäre Fernsehshows (Jackie Gleason Shows) besonders bei CBS. |

Henri René 29.12.1906 in New York City als Harald Manfred Kirchstein - 25.4. 1993 in Houston. a René, dessen Eltern deutschen bzw. polnischen Ursprungs waren, studierte an der Musikakademie in Berlin, um dann in amerikanischen Tanzorchestern zu arbeiten. 1926 leitete er ein amerikanisches Tanzorchester auf Europatournee und blieb dann in Berlin, wo er an Tonfilm- und Schallplattenaufnahmen, beispielsweise von Arthur Briggs und von Dajos Béla, mitarbeitete, bevor er als Komponist und Arrangeur bekannt wurde.[1] 1934 war er – noch als Harald Kirchstein – mit Willi Stech der Gründer und zunächst die treibende Kraft der Goldenen Sieben. Auch verfasste er die Musik für den Propagandafilm Menschen ohne Vaterland. Trotz überschwänglicher Kritiken in der Presse wurde er wegen seines jüdisch klingenden Namens und weil er keinen „arischen Nachweis“ vorlegen konnte, zu Fall gebracht.[2] 1937 kehrte er in die Vereinigten Staaten zurück, wo er bald Produzent bei Victor Records wurde. 1941 leitete er ein Musette-Orchester, mit dem er zahlreiche Alben einspielte. Nach Ableistung des Wehrdienstes war er ab 1946 wieder für Victor tätig; er begleitete Solisten mit Studiobands und nahm zahlreiche Tonträger mit Jazz-, Easy Listening-, Musical- und Popmusik auf. Unter anderem arbeitete er mit Harry Belafonte (Calypso), Perry Como, Maurice Chevalier, Ella Fitzgerald (Hello Dolly), Eartha Kitt, Connie Francis, Al Hirt oder Dinah Shore. Dann war Henri René an der amerikanischen Westküste der Artists and Repertoire-Manager von Victor. 1959 ließ er sich in San Francisco nieder. Unter anderem komponierte er eine California Suite.
